Part of the joy of blogging is being part of an amazing alliance that brings the food bloggers of Austin together for a greater good. Next week is no exception as the AFBA Philanthropy Group is hosting a fun night of social and good causes. Join some of Austin's local food bloggers and local bakers this Wednesday, July 25th at 6pm to honor and support a wonderful charity. The Bake a Wish Foundation was founded in 2009 by Karen Nichols and it provides free birthday cakes and other baked goods to at-risk, abused, and neglected kids in shelters and foster homes, the elderly and disabled in affordable housing, and many other underserved communities here in Austin. They are a 100% volunteer-run organization so the money raised by this event will go directly to helping them achieve their mission of delivering hope (and cake!) to the less fortunate here in Austin. The night will be filled with cupcakes to eat, cocktails to sip, and a pretty great silent auction with tons of local food-related items to bid on. If you can't make the event please consider donating online. If you would like to purchase a ticket, please go here. And just in case you need some visuals to entice you, I have posted some pictures of cupcakes I have made in the past. Sweet cakes, spirited cocktails and lively conversation sounds like a wonderful evening to me... I'm jus' sayin'!

OMG! Can I place my order NOW for dulce de leche buttercream and burnt almond cupcakes! Looks delish!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, Cocktails and Cupcakes is SURE to be a fabulous event! :)
Sure-Actually it been awhile since I've made either of those flavors. You will be the first I call when I make a batch. Good luck at the event. I know it will be great!
DeleteHoly cow - my mouth is watering! Beautiful cupcakes and a beautiful post - thanks so much for getting the word out about the event. I've never met a better group of good souls as the bloggers of the Austin Food Blogger Alliance.
ReplyDeleteYes I have to agree-One of the best things about working these events was the amazing friendships that came from all the meetings. I have no doubt this will be a very successful evening.
DeleteGirl, you know how to make a gorgeous cupcake. I want cupcakes for dinner!
ReplyDeleteThanks Maggie, Cupcakes (too me) seem so much less daunting then decorating a whole cake. Plus you can really be creative and think out side the box.
DeleteY'all have a blast tomorrow night! I wish I could join you but I'll be taking my last birthing class before the big exam (Ruby's arrival). Mixing cupcakes with cocktails is a brilliant idea so I'm sure it will be a great success.
